| Cave Springs Cave |
-Pulaski County-
This picture shows part of the front room.
A spring comes out of the back wall and drops off (about 9 ft.) into a lower level, and continues on back. I don't know how far. I went back only about 100 ft or so, the last time there. The passage got to where the floor split, and you have to straddle a wide gap. I intended to go back and check it out further, but never did.
Inside the front room, there is an opening on the left that allows access to the upper level, which is probably 15 to 20 ft above the water channel. You can't go far up there, that I know of, not walking anyway. Not sure if there are any crawl spaces or not.
These are some of the formations to be found up there.
These photos just below show some of what it looks like at the upper level. At bottom center of the right photo is part of the deep slot to the lower level, shown somewhat in the left photo.
Lower Level
The left photo shows Tom at the drop in the front room, the beginning of the lower channel. That rope is about 2 inches thick. A small stream of water was flowing down on the left side of Tom.
The right one shows some of the lower passage. We found a bunch of interesting formations down there.
A broader view. Tom is in the background, kneeling in the tunnel.
Seems like this was the best part of the formations that we encountered, and it is near the end of the easy walking part. Shortly beyond this, is where the floor splits, and stradling is required. The split floor slants inward on each side, along the part that I could see. It goes on back in there, no telling how far. I'll find out some time.
Formation in the lower tunnel.
Small cave nearby
There is a small cave near the entrance to the
bigger one. It has enough room to walk
in, but doesn't go anywhere. It is just a short cave, but it has
various formations of interest.
This shows a majority of what is in there.
