| Secret Creek |
This is a picture of part of the upper
area of what I'm calling "Secret Creek." I don't want
to disclose the actual name or location of this creek. It is a
very nice creek, and not trashed. A gravel lane goes down to it
where this picture was made, and I know some people would make a
mess of the place. There would be beer cans and all kinds of
other trash accumulating here, and on down the creek. I have a
web page on a place that I call "The Canyon." We found
several beer cans at the base of the main falls one day, and
other junk left by some people who apparently camped at the top
of the falls. People have dumped a lot of trash over the side
from the top of the canyon, in more than one place. I think it
has ceased, but eveidently dumping had been going on for a long
time. I showed pictures of trash there.
This page is intended to be like a tour down the creek, with pictures in succession. I think I remember fairly well in what order to put them, but I'm not sure about a few of them. I'll point them out later. We made many pictures, and there ae plenty that I couldn't include because it would be too much. I tried to pick some that are good examples of what is there.
This "Secret Creek" is a real neat place. Some it is like what you see in the picture above. On down stream, it gets rockier, with some deeper drops. The stream has cut channels through rock in places. Rocks of various sizes are scattered along and in the creek, and create some white water in places, with the accompaning sound of rushing water. The falls are not high, but they are interesting as they are. Any falls are nice. Shown at right is the first little falls below the parking area.
We first went to this place in latter April of last year. The water was running nicely. In subsequent trips there, we found less water. We made pictures every time, and I tried to pick out some good ones of different places along the creek. I used a film camera, and Barb used the digital. All these pictures I'm putting here were made with the digital. They are already on the computer, so I'm using them. I might go through some film pictures later and add or change some.
A little further down is this falls.
Shortly after the above falls, is this
channel around a bend.
Barb made several pictures of flowers
and plants of different kinds. There was a bee and some wasp-like
creature on this plant.
Not very far along, we came to this
descent of the creek, with some multiple falls.
I think this picture at right
is the top of the drops shown just above.
I'm not sure, but I think this view may
be next in sequence before the bend shown after this.
We found some Columbine on the cliffs in
different places.
This is one of the high walls
to be found along this creek.
I'm not sure if this is the
same bend, but it might be part of it. Facing downstream.
This is an upstream view of the bend shown just above
On around and down the creek
some, is this cliff. The water flow was less when this picture
was made.
I think this scene follows the previous
one, but I'm not sure. Probabaly does. This is getting close to
the drop off and pool.
This one shows Barb and our
dog, at a section just above the pool.
This scene is approaching the
pool.
This is a reverse look at the
pool, made at a different time. The pool is the farthest point
Barb went. One day I took the dog to the creek and went on past
this place. I went well past this pool, on down to the lower part
of the creek, but not as far as the mud bank lowest part, which
is near a river. I took only the digital camera that time.
This is a sunlit growth I
found on a log angled down over the creek.
I'm, not sure about the order of this
picture and the next one, but I found these scenes on down below
the pool.
It felt like I was walking in
a creek through a jungle in some remote place.
I'm not sure if the following scene is below the pool, or above it. There are scenes like this in various places along this creek.
