Part of the McCreary county map.

A red X marks the location of the arch. The route is marked in yellow, starting at highway 27. Going south, a little past Whitley City, turn right at the light where a sign indicates highway 92. Follow that a short distance through Sterns (train track overpass and train station for the sceinc train ride) to the Y, where there is a Citgo gas station. A brown sign (I circled where brown signs are) will point left, for Blue Heron and Bear Creek Overlook. Turn left and go a short distance to 741 (a shortcut up to 742) and turn right. No brown sign at 741. Not turning will take you to 742, and there is probably a sign there. Take the short cut uphill on 741 a short distance until you get to 742. There is a church at the intersection, and a brown sign on the right, along 742, pointing to Blue Heron and Bear Cr. Overlook. Turn right. Road 742 goes all the way to Blue Heron. Follow that road several miles until you get to another brown sign, for Bear Creek Overlook, pointing left. 742 tends to go straight. Turn left onto that other paved road. After that, it gets a little tricky. Follow that road a mile or so until it makes a hard left turn. At that point a gravel road goes off to the right. Turn there, and follow it until you get to the parking area for the overlook and the arch. Soon after you get on the gravel road, you will pass a road or driveway to the right, for Bear Creek Resort, which you can see as you pass. Continuing on the gravel road, it is only about a mile to the arch and parking area, on the right. You will first see the Split Bow Arch sign (first picture). A little past that is the gravel drive and parking area (right side) for the arch and overlook to the river. From the parking area, a trail (.7 mile) leads to the arch. Another trail (.3 mile) leads to the river overlook.
