Old traction engine on display at the annual Matthews, IN Bridge Festival, in 2008. I think it is a Case, but not sure.

This one used to be at a place called "The Forgotten Past", along highway 68, between Paducah, KY and Benton, KY. This photo was made back in the 1980s.

Old tractor, Southern Illinois, around mid 1980s. I found this relic while driving a gravel road through a large expanse of farmland along the Ohio River, across from Paducah, KY. It was near an old two-story farm house. It too was a relic by then. A photo of that house is on the page for old buildings, etc.

I was driving along a paved road somewhere in south central Ky and happened to see this old thresher parked in a field by the road.

Old barn near Kentucky River, with scattered implements, and other relics.
It is interesting to find something like this, with leftovers
of bygone years.

Same plow in photo above.

Old sprayer outfit. First one like it I ever saw.

Rarely see one of these.

Old engine under the mill, at Mill Springs, KY.
Between Somerset and Monticello, KY.

Inside an old industrial mill at Science Hill, KY.
I wonder what was made in this place?
I'd like to see photos of this place when it was in use.

Corliss engine

This engine is located inside the Paducah Lumber & Manufacturing Co., which was built in 1898. Way back in 1981 I went there to inquire about some exotic wood, for knife handles. I don't remember the owner's name, but he was a good man. While in there, I found out about this massive old engine and had a look. I went back another time with a camera and made some photos. He was kind enough to let me do that. His assistant is in one of the photos. I don't know his name, but he posed next to the engine for scale.

I recently found out from a friend who lives in Paducah that this place looks like it is still in business. That makes 113 years.

I'll have to go back in there next time I'm in Paducah and have another look. Fascinating place, with that big antique engine, and belts and pulleys here and there. Like stepping back in time.

This view shows another machine of some kind, and some of the many shafts and pulleys mounted overhead.
I think there were some large belts still in place, and some small ones.
